The Best Time for Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a major surgery and choosing the best time for rhinoplasty can be challenging. While there is not one season in particular that is better than another for the procedure, there are elements to consider when planning for the procedure.

Price should not be a major concern when it comes to scheduling rhinoplasty procedures. The surgeon offering seasonal discounts may not be the best one for performing your procedure, but there are “off seasons” for plastic surgery. Discounts are more likely to occur in periods away from the holidays and the summer months.

Healing Times

A nose job takes two weeks at the minimum to heal. If you’re trying to enjoy a major sporting activity or even swimming with goggles, you must wait at least two weeks following surgery for light activities and up to six weeks following surgery for contact sports, strenuous athletics or even wearing those swim goggles or mask. Planning a rhinoplasty procedure three weeks before a snorkeling trip would be poor timing.

Likewise, trying to squeeze in a rhinoplasty surgery just a few weeks before your busy time at work will be taking a gamble. There is a chance the surgery date will need to be adjusted slightly or you may need an extra week of healing before you feel ready to head back to the office. Leaving yourself extra time to heal will help avoid disruption to your work activities.

Major Events

Weddings, reunions, important meetings and other gatherings are catalysts for us in changing our appearance. But the swelling from a nose job can take up to six weeks to heal completely. If you’re planning to show off your new appearance at a family event, be sure to plan for a minimum of six weeks recovery time prior to the event in order for the swelling and bruising to disappear completely.
